Nadav Drukker

Nadav Drukker (b. 1968, Israel) is a Theoretical Physics Professor based at Kings College London. He creates unusual vessels or pots in clay as a means to communicate his research to a wider audience.

“From an early age, growing up in Jerusalem I had a strong affinity with ceramics; the Japanese vessels that my grandfather collected and the abundant shards of pot from local archeology.”

Drukker has a studio in the garden of his Brixton home with both electric and a gas kilns. He is an experimental artist using complex techniques and inventing new techniques if required to achieve a specific result. One technique he has mastered is inlaying coloured clay into the inscribed surface of porcelain to produce sharp graphic lettering. This quality of lettering would be extremely hard to achieve with coloured glaze.
